R134a is a non-ozone depleting HFC refrigerant used in automotive A/C and medium-temp refrigeration. It’s non-toxic, non-flammable, and widely adopted since 1991 as a replacement for R-12. Though eco-friendlier for the ozone, it has a GWP of 1,430 and is considered a greenhouse gas.
