R1234yf is a next-generation, low-GWP (Global Warming Potential) refrigerant replacing R134a in automotive air-conditioning. Introduced in some cars from 2011 and mandatory in all new European vehicles since January 2017, R1234yf helps reduce environmental impact with a GWP of just 4.

Unlike its predecessor R134a (GWP 1,430), R1234yf is an HFO (Hydrofluoroolefin) that offers significantly lower emissions. Though mildly flammable (classified A2L), it has been thoroughly tested and proven safe for vehicle use.
